Tansu Wax

A wood and tool wax made in the old Japanese manner — beeswax softened with tsubaki (camellia) and komenuka (rice bran), the two plant oils Japanese woodworkers and swordsmiths have trusted for centuries. Just wax and pressed oil, the way it was always done.

Rub it onto tool handles, plane soles, treen or any bare wood. It burnishes to a soft, water-resistant sheen that protects against damp and wear while letting the grain breathe. The honey warmth of the beeswax sits against the clean, quiet character of the oils.

For the finest finish, lay down Komorebi Oil first and let it soak in — the oil feeds the wood, the wax seals and protects it. Used together they're a slow, considered ritual for things worth keeping. Used alone, Tansu Wax still earns its place on the bench.

Hand-poured in small batches in Cheshire.
